Anamore partners with Dean Maguirc College to support Spirit of Paul McGirr in Lusaka, Zambia

Anamore, specialists in building remediation, is delighted to partner with Dean Maguirc College in Carrickmore to support the work of the Spirit of Paul McGirr charity in Lusaka, Zambia.

In January, Anthony Marley, Co-Founder of Anamore alongside students Clara Rose Marley, Laura Delaney, Niamh McElduff and Ríoghnach McAleer will contribute skills, time and energy to a roof-remediation project that will strengthen vital community buildings and improve the lives of local families.

At Anamore, our purpose is to make homes and buildings safe and sustainable across the world, so that families’ livelihoods can be preserved and protected for future generations. This initiative reflects that purpose in action.

About Spirit of Paul McGirr

Spirit of Paul McGirr is a County Tyrone based charity working with the Chainda community in Lusaka. Founded in 2007 in memory of Paul McGirr, the organisation designs, funds and constructs safe, high-quality spaces, from schools and community centres to health hubs – where children and families can learn, grow and access essential support.

To date, the charity has helped establish a special-needs school, a preschool for orphaned children and a primary school. Its current focus includes developing a secondary school and a health and nutrition hub, both crucial for long-term community wellbeing.

The Roof Remediation Project

We are supporting upgrades to ensure the rural maternity and health centre remains safe, weather-resilient, and fit for purpose. Essential roof repairs will protect the facility, allowing it to continue providing secure, supportive care for women and newborns.

Current Challenges: The old, corrugated roof leaks into medical records storage, treatment rooms, doctors’ surgery, and the waiting area, damaging both records and the building structure.

Recent Improvements: The charity has recently installed 10 kVA solar panels with battery backup and hot water systems in the maternity suite and recovery rooms, enhancing sustainability and patient comfort.

Next Steps: Roof remediation is critical to safeguarding the building and ensuring uninterrupted, high-quality maternal and newborn care.

How You Can Help

If you would like to support this initiative, donations are warmly welcomed to The Spirit of Paul McGirr foundation via the GoFundMe Page.

Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a part in building safe spaces and opening doors for future generations.

This partnership demonstrates the impact that expertise, youthful energy and compassionate vision can achieve together.
