SENIOR ESTIMATOR

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Estimator to empower projects through meticulous analysis, strategic coordination, and comprehensive understanding. Our Senior Estimator ensures precision in bid submissions, fostering trust and excellence in every endeavour.

Key duties /accountabilities:

  • Oversee all tender enquiries coming into the office and managing the full bid submission within the time allocated.
  • Obtain competitive cost submissions from our supply chain to help build our tender bid, ensuring our supply chain clearly understand the project specification and contractual obligations.
  • Obtain competitive labour, material, plant/equipment costs to help build our tender bid.
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple tender bids at once and be able to delegate effectively.
  • Identify factors affecting costs, such as production time, lead-in time, and material availability.
  • Be able to account for the project specification, the employers’ requirements, technical documents, drawings, project start dates and other factors to be included in the tender bid.
  • Be capable of providing a tender bid summary for discussion with company directors before finalising tender bid.
  • Be capable of completing priced schedule of works alongside contract sum analysis leaving sufficient time for review before submission.
  • Assessing the level of risk on each individual contract, and account for this within the bid
  • Understand the contract and its obligations and how this will need to be accounted for in the tender bid.
  • Be capable of raising tender clarifications and sharing them with our supply chain.
  • Be capable of carrying out a detailed handover to our Project QS after successfully securing the project bid win.

The Person:

  • Degree in quantity surveying or construction management, or civil engineering
  • Have 3+ years’ experience as an estimating or surveying assistant, followed by,
  • 5+ years as a senior estimator managing tender bid submissions.
  • Have a sound knowledge of JCT 2016 Design & Build Contracts
  • Be able to work in a team environment.
  • Have a sound knowledge of current building control regulations that affect building remediation works in the UK & Ireland
  • Remain up to date with current safety codes and changes in construction legislation in the UK & Ireland
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and IT skills
  • Build and maintain existing and new relationships.
  • Have 5+ years’ experience estimating in installation of façade systems.
  • Have managed tender bids between £1m and £15m.
  • Have attention to detail and be organised.
  • Be prepared to travel to visit projects that we are tendering for.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in Bluebeam or similar.
  • Experience in navigating AutoCAD drawings.
  • Experience in Microsoft and confidence using Microsoft project.
